A Back Pain Revelation
So, let's start with the elephant in the room—my back. I recently threw out my back, and boy, did it make me realize a few crucial things about my body and self-care practices. It's been a recurring issue ever since my daughter Goldie was born. This ordeal made me reflect on the ongoing struggle I've had with ab separation post-pregnancy. Despite being proactive about it occasionally, I haven't fully addressed it as I should have. This isn't about blaming myself; it’s about acknowledging where I can improve and take better care of my body.
The Overlooked Importance of Self-Care
My back situation has been a loud, painful reminder that self-care isn't just a luxury—it's essential. I've been so wrapped up in being a mom, running my business, and just life in general, that I put my health on the back burner. I’m sharing this because it's a trap so many of us fall into, especially us moms who juggle a million things at once. We often prioritize every other task or person and leave ourselves to last. It’s time to flip that narrative.
Embracing the Studio Life
On a brighter note, I want to talk about something super exciting—my studio! It's been a dream come true to teach and connect with my community again in a space that is entirely my own. The studio is thriving, and every session I hold fills me with immense joy. It’s a reminder of how much I love what I do and the positive impact it has on both my students and me.
The Warm-Up Lesson
A funny yet enlightening realization hit me recently—I've been skimping on my warm-ups and cool-downs, just walking my class through them instead of participating. And guess what? That probably hasn’t been helping my back either. It's a small change, but I’m committing to fully engaging in these routines to hopefully keep future back issues at bay.
A Call to Action: Fitness, Food, and Business
Let’s chat about fitness, food, and owning a business—three areas that I'm passionate about and often discuss in terms of stress management and fulfillment. These elements of our lives can either be sources of joy or stress, and so much of that comes down to our attitudes and approaches. For instance, turning food into a form of medicine and pleasure, or seeing workouts as opportunities rather than chores, can transform our experiences with them.
It's All in the Mindset
Ultimately, what this all circles back to is mindset. Whether it's dealing with back pain, running a studio, or just navigating daily routines, the perspective we choose can make all the difference. It’s about making intentional choices that support our well-being and happiness.
