Are you minimizing your needs?
In Episode 89, I got real about balancing self-care while the world sometimes feels like it's in chaos. I chatted about the rollercoaster of emotions, and why it's okay to prioritize yourself. Oh, and for my fellow foodies, there's a little something on nutrition and food choices too.
LISTEN TO THE FULL EPISODE
The World’s Current State: Heartbreak and Incomprehension
Recording this episode was emotionally overwhelming. As we see war, devastation, panic, and unparalleled loss unfold globally, it's challenging to reconcile our daily lives with such realities. I found myself grappling with a sense of surreal disbelief – the feeling that these atrocities can't be happening. But they are. While I'm offering my thoughts and prayers, it's hard not to wonder about the randomness of birth – why was I born here, with such privileges, while others face unimaginable suffering?
The Delicate Balance: Self-Care Amid Chaos
It's strange to think about self-care routines like working out or healthy eating against such a tumultuous backdrop. However, amidst this chaos, I believe it's vital to remember that taking care of ourselves is paramount. Not just for our own well-being but to show up in the world, fully aware and present, and hopefully make a difference in whatever capacity we can. I remember attending a friend's party amidst these global events, a stark reminder of the preciousness of life.
Understanding The Model: Thought, Feelings, Actions, Results
I get into how thoughts create feelings, feelings lead to actions, and actions yield results. One realization was the frequent tendency, especially among women, to minimize our needs. How many times have we heard (or told ourselves), "I don't have time"? The truth is, we must make time for the things that are important to us.
Are We Minimizing Our Needs?
Whether it’s golfing early in the morning (props to my hubby for that!) or carving out an hour for self-care, we need to prioritize ourselves. This isn’t about selfishness; it’s about understanding that putting our needs first can lead to a more fulfilled and joyful life, benefiting not just us but everyone around us.
Wrapping Up
As I reflect on Episode 89, I find myself embracing a mix of gratitude for the life I have and a renewed determination to make every day count, both for myself and the world at large. Whether it’s extending a hand to someone in need or taking an hour off for self-care, let’s ensure we live our lives to the fullest, appreciating every moment. Thank you for joining me on this journey. Stay strong, stay connected, and let's bring a little more light to the world, one day at a time.
